Prewedding, Engagement, or Couple Session — What's the Difference?

Prewedding, engagement, and couple sessions sound similar but serve different purposes. Understand the difference so you choose the right session for your story.

Before the wedding day arrives, many couples are unsure which type of photo session suits them. Prewedding, engagement, and couple sessions are often thought to be the same — yet each has a different purpose and mood. Here's a clear breakdown.

Prewedding

A prewedding session is designed specifically ahead of the wedding, usually with a well-planned concept, wardrobe, and location. The focus is artistic, cinematic visuals — often used for invitations, videos, or décor on the big day. At Luxie, a prewedding session can include multiple outfit changes and chosen locations.

Engagement / Sangjit

An engagement or sangjit session documents the proposal or engagement event itself. Unlike a concept-driven prewedding, engagement coverage is more documentary — capturing family emotions, cultural processions, and authentic joy as it happens.

Couple Session

A couple session is more relaxed and personal. Not tied to a specific event, it's perfect for celebrating an anniversary or simply capturing your bond without formality. It's usually shorter and more flexible.

Which One Is Right for You?

If you want artistic photos for invitations and décor, choose prewedding. If you want to document a proposal or sangjit, choose engagement. And if you want a relaxed, story-driven shoot, a couple session is the answer. The Luxie team is here to help you choose what fits your story best — in Jambi, Jakarta, or beyond.
